Holiday Bowl: Huskies v. Cornhuskers

The die hards and the novices came together one last time in 2010 to cheer on our beloved Huskies in this season's final game: The Holiday Bowl. It has been a gradual, emotional, jaw clenching, tear jerking roller coaster ride back to Husky Football greatness. Tonight's win was the culminating result of diligence and hard work on the part of the Husky football team, and loyalty and steadfastness on the Husky fan's part.

Tonight we celebrate the Huskies' come back.

For the fans who stayed honorable through the victories, and remained
faithful through the humiliation, we raise our glasses to you!

For the players who persevered through careless leadership,
or the lack thereof, we raise our smoke to you.

To God above, for watching over our Huskies, for sending us the Sark, for the manna you feed us, and the sparkling wine we drink, woof, WOOF, WOOF! Thank you.

Amen!

Nebraska goes down 19-7.

Apple Cup 2010

The Apple Cup game was held at Washington State University in Pullman. So we gathered around the TV to cheer on our Huskies, with a sole Cougar in midst.

The wireless lines were bombarded with text messages as the game progressed.

Huskies touchdown!

Cougars touchdown!

It was a close game that kept us on the edge of our seats.

On our feet. Praying.

Hoping.

Invoking the football gods.

And we were heard!

The Cougars go down, down, DOWN!

"Five-Star, that's cinnamon. Not smelling salts."

It was a nerve-racking victorious night for the University of Washington Huskies.

*Sorry, Cougs. Don't hate us because we're good.*

 Final score: 35-28 Huskies.

We're off to play a bowl game,
A wonderful bowl game at last!

Versus UCLA Bruins: Stayin' Alive

We fought the afternoon commuter traffic, paid too much for parking, got our cardio workout walking to and from Husky Stadium, gained back all the calories at Dick's... and it was worth every drop of sweat and every breath of barking!

For tonight, we beat the UCLA Bruins 24-7.

We're stayin' alive!

I'm at an utter loss for words. I'm just going to crawl into my kennel, and curl up in the fetal position...

Johnny Jinx No More

Dear Mommy,

I went to my first football game today, and what better team to watch than the University of Washington Huskies. We arrived all decked out in purple.

The whole place was an ocean of purple!
(Scroll over photo to see where we are.)

Even the OSU Beavers - that's the opposing team - were so nice!

Then we went into this fancy tail gate section called The Zone. It's the sophisticated version of the tail gate party in the parking lot earlier.

Instead of beer pongs, here the have Purple Kool-Aid, aka The Purple Haze.

It's a whole other breed of people inside the stadium. I swear, if you cut them they'll bleed purple and gold!

And then there were the Beavers that made up a tiny island of orange at the edge of the purple ocean.

I learned that Oregon State University has the oldest college marching band in the Pac 10. And what a performance they had with the UW Huskies marching band! The opening ceremonies was so fantastic! See, there are the two bands playing the National Anthem together.

Mom, are you getting all this? Because I'm going to get carpal tunnel from texting anymore.

So how about I just let the pictures tell the the story, the whole story, and nothing but the story.

(Naughty, naughty Harry...)

By the way, that stands for DEFENSE. We screams our lungs out when the opposing team was on the offense, you know, to distract them. And it worked! UW Stadium is known to be one of the loudest college stadiums.

And we prayed. Oh my goodness, did we pray...

The Huskies have been so down that we'd take anything. Anything.

For a touchdown.

And by golly, we got it!

It was a battle! And we won with a prayer!

Final Score:

The Beavers had a fighting chance, Mom. But they got greedy.

And in the end we celebrated.

For dinner we had 20 tacos at this Jack In The Box, where the cashier greeted us through the intercome with "Welcome to Yackindebocks... Ju want two tacos?"

"No," we clarified. "Twenty."

"Two?" the cashier repeated.

"Tuh-wenty!"

And she finally got it, because she proceeded to ask "anything else?"

"Two large Cokes," Palomino said.

"One large Coke."

"TWO!!!"

Needless to say, we didn't ask for the two small Sprites until we actually came face to face with her at the window.

All right, Mom. I gotta go. My I can't feel my fingers anymore...

Love,

Nicole

Ps. In case you're wondering about the robe that Palomino is wearing. It's his Johnny Jinx No More robe, which he will wear only, and ONLY when the Huskies play.
